2025 Union SWCD Tree Sale

ODNR Tree Planting Guide

(Selecting the right tree is the first step in a successful planting.)

Ordering: We do not accept orders before the sale.  All of the stock are seedlings only.  Please make selections below and bring the completed form with you on the day of the sale.   After ensuring that all species desired are still available, we will total your order.  Cash or check only, we do not accept credit cards accepted for payment.  Please make checks out to Union SWCD. 

Sale: The sale is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Once a species is sold out, it will be unavailable for purchase, so come early if you have a specific need!  Any remaining seedlings not sold during the sale will be sold the following week, Monday-Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm, in the Union SWCD office in Suite D of the Union County Agricultural Center.

Tree Prep/Planting: The trees are root trees, which means that the plant has not been potted. Instead, they are dormant trees with no soil around their roots.  Our staff dip the roots in a preservative gel and place them in a plastic bag.  Seedlings should be planted immediately into your yard or a permanent container while still dormant for the best chance of survival.
