File A Complaint

The employees of the Union County Sheriff’s    Office are committed to the delivery of quality  law enforcement service to all citizens.  They strive to serve the public professionally and within the high     standards that are set by agency policies and procedures.

The citizen complaint system is designed to provide citizens with a means of expressing their concerns about service provided by the Union County Sheriff’s Office. This system provides a fair, factual, and objective review of citizen’s concerns, with the goal of enhancing public trust and confidence in the Union County Sheriff’s Office.  All complaints will be reviewed by a supervisor and acknowledged.

NOTE:  The guilt or innocence of a person charged with a criminal violation of the law by a deputy is a matter for a court of law  to decide and will not be the basis of a complaint against a Union County Sheriff’s Office employee.

False complaints - The Ohio Revised Code makes it a misdemeanor of the first degree to knowingly file a false complaint of misconduct against a peace officer.  Officers can be targets of false and frivolous complaints by people who seek revenge on them for doing their jobs.  The Union County  Sheriff’s Office feels that citizens need to be aware that this law exists and that when appropriate, charges will be filed against violators of this law.
